The opportunity
Our Lady of Mercy College is seeking a passionate and qualified PDHPE teacher with additional qualification and expertise as a dance educator to join our vibrant learning community on a 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator committed to fostering student wellbeing, promoting physical literacy, and inspiring creativity through dance. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to deliver engaging PDHPE programs alongside high-quality dance instruction, while also leading, managing, and sustaining a flourishing and popular dance co-curricular program contributing to both the curriculum and wider college life. The primary purpose of this role is to nurture the gifts and talents of each student ensuring that our Catholic practices and Mercy Values underpin all aspects of life in the school.
What are we looking for?
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and current NESA accreditation to teach PDHPE and Dance in NSW.
- Demonstrated experience teaching PDHPE across Stages 4 and 5, Dance across Stages 5 and 6, with clear alignment to relevant curriculum requirements.
- Demonstrated capacity to critically reflect on and adapt teaching practice to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Ability to foster a supportive and engaging environment that promotes effective student learning.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organisational, administrative, and collaborative skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the teaching needs of the College.
- Ability to lead, manage and sustain a flourishing and popular dance co-curricular program (no regular weekend sporting commitments).
- Ability to manage the College dance events such as the OLMC Dance Extravaganza.
- Commitment to actively supporting and participating in the life of the College, including its Catholic mission and Mercy values.
- Current Working with Children Check clearance.
